The South City Family YMCA, University of Missouri Extension, Saint Louis University, and a number of community partners are coming together to discover the assets of the Tower Grove South neighborhood and discuss ways to improve the health of the whole community. This work is part of the Healthy Lifestyle Initiative, supported by University of Missouri Extension, aimed at helping communities form and strengthen community-wide partnerships to create sustainable approaches to address preventable health issues like overweight, obesity, sedentary lifestyle and related diseases and positively impact lifelong health. The Tower Grove South neighborhood is one of 12 communities across the state participating in the Healthy Lifestyle Initiative.
As part of this initiative, all members of the Tower Grove South neighborhood, including families, youth, business leaders, healthcare providers, and others are invited to participate in an assessment of the overall health of their community. We invite you to become involved and share your own skills, knowledge and passion for making the Tower Grove South neighborhood a healthier place to live. We plan to have an introductory meeting with stakeholders, such as you, on Thursday, May 27th at 5:00 p.m. at Grand Oak Hill Community Senior Center, 4168 Juniata St., St. Louis, MO 63116.
