911 Communications

The Metropolitan Police Department operates as the city’s primary 911 answering point and fields calls requesting a response from police, fire and EMS-Emergency Medical Services (ambulance). All calls requiring the Fire Department or EMS are immediately transferred to the appropriate dispatcher, while calls for police service are handled by our employees. Our call center handles more than 800,000 calls per year.

Every block is encouraged to have a block party on National Night Out, Aug., 7, ... in fact, the City waives the street closure fee, regularly $20. If you don't want to have the party on this specific date for whatever reason, you can pick a different date, but you'll have to pay the $20 street closure fee.

The success of this endeavour is entirely dependent on your support and interest.

We seek committed volunteers in the neighborhood to serve as steering committee members to help plan our monthly neighborhood meeting topics, find and request relevant speakers, take meeting notes, assemble welcome packets, spearhead projects and ad hoc committees and/or help organize our meetings.

Access to E-mail would be very helpful in facilitating rapid communications.
