Tower Grove South History

Over the years, Tower Grove South has grown from a prairie to a rich agricultural area to an active business and residential neighborhood. Through these changes, the glue of the neighborhood has been its people and their strong desire to create a great community.

Oak Hill History by Norbury Wayman

In the 1970s, Norbury Wayman was commissioned by St. Louis' Community Development Agency to record the history of the City's 27 historical neighborhoods. They provide a detailed viewpoint of the historical neighborhoods from the vantage point of the 1970's - obviously, information about the "current state" of individual neighborhoods does not apply to today's circumstances.

The modern Tower Grove South neighborhood fall within the historical Oak Hill neighborhood.
